MODE AT LIQUIDROOM 2024.09.21 - goat / Still House Plants

Hosted by London-based record label 33-33 and Japan-based curatorial collective “BLISS”, “MODE AT LIQUIDROOM” is the latest instalment of the global event series presenting experimental music, audiovisual and the performing arts. The event will take place on September 21, 2024 at LIQUIDROOM in Ebisu, Tokyo, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

The program will feature the five-member rhythm ensemble goat, led by Osaka-based musician Koshiro Hino, also known as YPY. goat has garnered strong support from festivals and listeners throughout Europe, and in 2021, they provided music for "Without References," a work by contemporary Swiss dancer and choreographer, Cindy Van Acker. goat recently performed at Rewire 2024 in The Hague, Netherlands, as well as Festival Variations in Nantes, France, where they shared the stage with doom metal/drone band SUNN O))) which drew significant attention. Last year goat celebrated their 10th anniversary, and this will be their first performance in Japan since 2023.

Additionally, the program will feature UK-based trio Still House Plants, who will be performing in Japan for the first time. From a bare-bones set up of guitar, drums and vocals they create fractious and sharp music, bridging elements of sampling, slowcore and repetition. Recently described by The Guardian, a leading UK news media, as “the most vital band in Britain today,” their recent April 2024 release, "If I Don't Make It, I Love You," has received high praise from other major media outlets including Pitchfork in the US and The Quietus in the UK.

goat’s technical artistry produces complex, overlapping and repetitive rhythms that provide truly visceral experiences for their audiences. Meanwhile, Still House Plants’ elusive melodies and rhythms steer their sound through wandering, spontaneous journeys.
